Over 25 years of teaching has informed my belief that  nothing is as transformative and powerful as a mindful approach to life. I founded Heart-Based Mindfulness in order to offer mindfulness-based yoga classes, retreats, and travel.

Bio:

A colleague once said to me:  People are entitled to know who is speaking to them so they know if you have been trained and are experienced.  It is in service of that intention that I will list for you some information below.   But as we all are a composite of our life’s experience, this does not mean we are a list of what we have accomplished.  So I will include a bit of the details and then the heart of the matter.

The bit of the heart of the matter

  • Born in CA, grew up in MN and have lived in CT for the last 40 years.
  • Parents divorced, lived bicoastal as kid with a grandmother on the farm in MN and another in rural Florida, just off the Alabama boarder .  
  • One dear sweet older brother
  • Raised a Catholic, married a Jew and practice Buddhism (tho not a Buddhist, rather a person who would include all instead of exclude any)
  • Mother of two sons an a daughter, grandmother of twin boys and a granddaughter, married 41 years
  • A nurse, a midwife, a storyteller, an energy medicine healer, a meditation and yoga teacher a traveler of the world 
  • A retired Naval officer, a Community Health Center provider of Women’s Health for 36 years, an advocate for peace.
  • A dancer (mostly in the kitchen now) a singer (for whomever is willing to listen), mediocure piano player and guitarist, skier, biker and rower.

Kate currently works as  a consultant and offers individual Mindfulness and meditation, classes, staff development and training for businesses, hospitals, health centers, schools, and universities throughout New England and Internationally.
