A little more about the Azores and getting there:
Azorean airline SATA flies direct from a dozen destinations in Europe and four in North America. Budget carriers are Ryanair and easyJet.
If you want to come early or stay late you could consider Portugal, Spain or travel between the islands:
SATA runs daily flights between the islands. Alternatively, you can explore them all in leisurely fashion by ship with Atlanticoline or hop between São Jorge, Pico and Faial by ferry with Transmacor.
The Azores were named as the world’s top destination for sustainable tourism by Quality Coast, a European Commission-supported certification programme. In fact, it is the only place in the world to receive a Platinum Award, the organization’s highest accolade. It is incredibly clean, safe, first-world and zika free.
Be sure to bring your layers, your rain gear and your hiking boots. The weather in the Azores is sub-tropical and often unpredictable, but what is for sure is that we will have an amazing time!
The average temperature for the Azores in October is 71/62 degrees.
